Nebraska Republican candidate for Governor Pete Ricketts has announced current Lieutenant Governor Lavon Heidemann as his running mate for the general election. Ricketts says Heidemann’s agriculture background is a major reason for the choice.
Heidemann has been Lieutenant Governor since February 2013, when he was appointed by Governor Dave Heineman to fill the position. Heidemann previously served in the Unicameral for eight years.
Heidemann says he and Ricketts see eye to eye on most issues.
Democratic candidate Chuck Hassebrook has not announced a running mate at this time.
