Going to Work to Keep Medicaid

During his State of the State speech in January, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard said he would ask the federal government for a waiver that would add work requirements for some people that receive Medicaid benefits. There has been a public – private work group meeting since that time, coming up with guidelines.
Cindy Dannenbring, Executive Director of the Inter Lakes Community Action Partnership, based in Madison, is part of the group.
She says they have all expressed their views on the proposed work requirements…….

Dannenbring says some people need to be in a stable situation before they can move on……

Dannenbring says the goal is to encourage more people to help themselves…..

Dannenbring says very few of the people they work with want to just receive state and federal benefits.
