Glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, is currently under a registration review by the Environmental Protection Agency. Jen Listello, molecular biologist with Monsanto Regulatory Affairs says the review is the standard process for all previously approved pesticides to make sure they meet Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act rules.
The EPA is holding a public comment period through April. Listello says farmers can submit comments directly to the EPA on the importance and safety of glyphosate.
She says farmers can submit their comments easily online using a tool at protectglyphosate.com.
Listello says glyphosate is an effective tool for farmers.
