Farmers who are members of the Global Farm Network are holding a roundtable in Mexico this week. News of the U.S. Senate passage of the USMCA has many of them excited. Jeanie Gutierrez is a fifth generation dairy farmer from Mexico. She says the most important thing USMCA brings is market stability for all three county’s agricultural economies.
She says once USMCA is fully ratified by all three countries that it will give all of them a stronger position in international markets.
Global Farm Network CEO Mary (boat) Boote says ratification of USMCA also gives farmers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico better access to technology.
Both Boote and Gutierrez are hopeful Canada will also ratify the USMCA now that both the United States and Mexico have given their approval.
