Glacial Lakes Energy in Watertown is in the process of acquiring the Advanced Bioenergy ethanol plants in Aberdeen and Huron. That’s pending approval of Advanced Bioenergy’s shareholders. Glacial Lakes CEO Jim Seurer says the purchase agreement has been signed following an eight month review and now the last step is for the shareholders to give the go ahead.

He says they were able to move ahead with this expansion after reviewing their own facilities several years ago where they made them as strong as they could and now have experienced success with that.

Seurer says before moving forward with the expansion they scrutinized the opportunity thoroughly and concentrated on possible projects in South Dakota.

The current combined ethanol production capacity at the Aberdeen and Huron facilities are over 80 million gallons.
