GIPSA Funding Left in House Appropriations Plan

Both R-CALF USA and the National Farmers Union are pleased the U.S. House appropriations committee passed a spending bill leaving out a rider that would have prohibited funding for GIPSA and ensure fairness in marketing. R-CALF CEO Bill Bullard says the defeat of the rider is a big win for America’s cattle producers and agriculture in general.

Bullard says they’re hoping the Senate will also pass legislation not including those types of provisions such as was attempted with the House rider.

Bullard says had the rider remained in the House bill, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur was ready to offer an amendment to correct the problem.
