Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer and tagged out Shohei Ohtani trying to score the tying run in the eighth inning before leaving with a left high ankle sprain during a Twins 4-3 victory over the Angels Tuesday.

Garver homered in the third to give Minnesota a three-run lead behind Kyle Gibson (4-1). It was Garver’s ninth homer and traveled to the second deck in left field.

Byron Buxton added an RBI double the next inning, and five relievers combined for 3 1/3 scoreless innings, with Blake Parker getting his seventh save in seven chances.

Gibson cruised through five innings before running into trouble in the sixth. He allowed three runs, six hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings.
