A person with knowledge of the agreement tells The Associated Press that the two-year contract Kevin Garnett will sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves is worth $16 million.
Garnett agreed to the terms earlier this week to return to the Timberwolves for a 21st season in the NBA. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because financial details have not been announced.
Garnett was acquired in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets last February. The deal reunited the most popular player in franchise history with the team he played the first 12 seasons of his career with.
Now 39, Garnett is being counted on to help mentor a young roster that includes No. 1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns and last season’s rookie of the year, Andrew Wiggins.
