The Yankton School Board at their meeting last night heard results of a public survey on the future of the Crane-Youngworth football field. The school district bought the field from the bankrupt Yankton College in the mid-1980s, and the main grandstand is over seventy years old, and showing signs of aging.
Superintendent Wayne Kindle says the vast majority of those responding to the survey want to keep football at the old stadium…
The other option was to move to the new Williams Field at Yankton High School.
Kindle says the survey also asked about areas to upgrade at Crane-Youngworth…
Board Member Jim Fitzgerald says the football field should be part of the facilities study before they make any decisions…
A proposed upgrade to the field could cost about two million dollars.
