Funding Formula Change for Iowa Universities

Iowa Board of Regents President Bruce Rastetter denied politics are behind a proposed new funding formula that would result in fewer dollars going to the University of Iowa and more money to the other two state schools. The legislature is being asked to approve the change that would allocated 60-percent of state dollars to U-I, Iowa State and U-N-I based on the number of in-state students on each campus. State Representative, Dave Jacoby, a Democrat from Coralville, believes it’s a political move against the University of Iowa because Johnson County is such a Democratic stronghold.


Rastetter says all three universities have received millions of dollars in recent years to upgrade facilities:
