Friday, the Fuels America Coalition began an advertising campaign supporting the Renewable Fuel Standard and calling for statutory volume levels under the mandate. National Corn Growers Association President Chip Bowling, a Maryland grower, says the ads show how the RFS is the best way to battle climate change and point out that government officials have acknowledged that fact in the past.
Bowling says the recent startup of a matching grant renewable fuel infrastructure program is proof of the viability of the RFS.
He says the RFS has also improved profitability for corn farmers and the agricultural industry, which supports rural economies.
Bowling says with the recent addition of flex fuel pumps, it’s important the RFS volumes are brought up to the statutory levels to meet consumer demand for the product.
