The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency has announced the temporary suspension of past due debt collections and foreclosures for borrowers under the Farm Storage Facility Loan and Direct Farm Loan programs. FSA Loan Manager in USDA’s South Dakota state office Ryan Vandenberg says producers with past due loans should contact their county FSA offices.

He says its critical borrowers continue to work with their local FSA on their financial difficulties.

Vandenberg says the temporary suspension is due to the national public health emergency caused by the coronavirus disease.

Vandenberg says currently in South Dakota, FSA has 3,259 participants in the Direct Farm Loan program and 1,296 in the Farm Storage Facility Loan program.
