The Nebraska Farm Service Agency has programs available to assist livestock producers negatively impacted by the recent storm and flooding. FSA spokeswoman Bobbi Kriz Wickham says the Livestock Indemnity Program is one of the more important ones available.
She says producers can meet the reporting requirement on LIP by calling the local FSA office. Wickham also says it’s critical to document all losses.
Wickham says FSA has other assistance programs available and she recommends calling the local office for details.
FSA also offer the Emergency Assistance for Livestock Program or ELAP. In certain situations, it can financially assist with livestock feed losses. That may include situations where forage or feedstuffs were destroyed by flood waters.
