This week the Farm Service Agency along with the South Dakota Farmers Union hosted one of several meetings aimed at helping producers understand the new farm bill. Brule and Buffalo County FSA Director Jim Anderson says producers will have to choose under the new program either the PLC or ARC program. He says farmers will need to gather information before they’ll be ready to sign up.
Anderson says it’s important farmers learn as much as they can and plan before enrolling and choosing either PLC or ARC. He says sign up likely won’t happen until early 2015.
Anderson says not only will farmers have to know the program thoroughly but also farm owners will need to get up to speed. T Cut 9 J Anderson Fonup q. to have to understand this too, so..:21 Seconds
The next Farm Bill meeting will be August 21 in Webster at 10am and Redfield at 2pm. Others have been set for the rest of August and into early September in Flandreau, Aberdeen, Watertown, Brookings and De Smet.
