Around 9PM a storm rolled through the Yankton area with lots of lightning and reported wind gusts up to 70MPH. The towns of Freeman, Menno, Olivet and parts of Yankton lost power. Crews found 7 poles down and several others damaged that will need to be repaired in Yankton. That affected 2300 customers.
3 distribution breakers opened in Yankton, which put 1500 customers in the dark.
The towns of Menno and the Meridian area were restored around 12:30AM Saturday. Freeman was restored around 1:45AM, with some service level issues. The town of Olivet had several poles down on the main distribution feeder into town.
In Yankton, all the circuit breakers were restored. There were a couple poles down at 4th & Locust, and a 1-phase tap at 17th Street west of Peninah St that was out. City of Yankton crews were out Friday night, clearing streets of larger branches, and picking up debris that was blown around. About an inch of rain was reported at the WNAX studio. Due to the recent storm damage, the City of Yankton will be accepting free tree branch drop off at the transfer station through Friday June 24th.
