As high schools in the area prepare for their first football games of the season this weekend, it appears there won’t be a team for Freeman High School players.
The South Dakota High School Activities Association has denied Freeman’s request to co-op with Canistota. Freeman had previously announced that they did not have enough players this season to field a team on its own.
Canistota had agreed to the co-op, but had reservations about moving up from their 9A class which the SDHSAA would have required with the added enrollment figures.
Recently the SDHSAA had approved a co-op of Highmore-Harrold with Miller which is a 9AA team.
