This weekend, the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department is inviting everyone to visit a state park for the annual Open House and free fishing weekend. Jeff Van Meeteren is the Southeast Regional Park Supervisor and says the Open House is a chance for people to enjoy the parks every May.

In addition to free admission to any of the state’s parks, Van Meeteren says people can take advantage of free fishing.

Van Meeteren says Lewis and Clark Recreation Area will host a pie making and tasting event this weekend, and other parks will be hosting events during the Open House like 5k runs and hunting and fishing education. He says camping is available, and anyone wanting to know more about events in their favorite state park can check the G, F & P website.

The same type of free fishing and open house events will also be held across Nebraska this weekend.
