Sustainability and good employees are two benchmarks of success for Milk Source, one of the largest dairy operations in the country. This 40,000 cow multi-site Wisconsin dairy was founded by John Vosters and he’ll be talking about their business model as the keynote speaker for the Got Milk Gala in Brookings on May 30.

He says labor is a huge challenge for the U.S. dairy industry right now and they’ve worked hard to recruit and retain their 600-plus employees.

Vosters says sustainability is a buzzword right now with consumers and food providers. However, most dairy operations are already sustainable, or they wouldn’t be in business. At Milk Source, he says they believe it is just doing what is right.

Milk Source also provides farm tours for more than 10,000 consumers annually and Vosters says they believe in opening their doors and telling their story.
