Forty Senators including John Thune and Mike Rounds of South Dakota are calling on the EPA to strengthen the biodiesel volumes in the pending Renewable Fuel Standard. National Biodiesel Board’s Ben Evans says it’s a bi partisan group of lawmakers from across the country and not just farm states asking for the increase.
He says the biodiesel industry needs the certainty that a 2.5 billion gallon level would bring.
Evans says having a higher biodiesel level in the RFS would give certainty to the industry and give the overall economy a boost.
Evans says the Senator’s letter to the EPA reflects a growing consensus on Capitol Hill that biodiesel and renewable diesel are successfully delivering the economic and environmental benefits that Congress had in mind when it created the RFS.
