Prairie Paradise Farms of Fort Pierre has been named as the winner of the South Dakota Leopold Conservation Award. The award will be presented December 1 in Rapid City at the annual convention of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association. Prairie Paradise Farms is operated by Levi and Crystal Neuharth. Levi says they incorporate several environmentally friendly practices on their operation including making sure they have good soil health.

Levi Neuharth is the current Chairman of the South Dakota Soil Health Coalition and believes in the importance of keeping the soil healthy and that’s why he practices no till and rotational grazing and plants cover crops.

He advises his fellow producers to make sure they plan for the future with their farming and ranching practices and leave the land in good shape for future generations.

Levi credits his success in protecting the environment to his dad, David who started the operation and got him started in the business. The Leopold Conservation Award is co-sponsored by the Sand County Foundation and the South Dakota Grasslands Coalition and Cattlemen’s Association.
