A group called Rural for Hillary was formed last week during the Democratic National Convention to begin campaign efforts for Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton. Serving on that group is former National Corn Growers President and Iowa farmer Pam Johnson. She says she met with Clinton a year ago and was impressed with her questioning and knowledge of ag issues including renewable fuels.
She says following that meeting with Hillary Clinton, she was convinced to back her for President. Johnson says her support for a number of ag issues including the farm bill was impressive.
Johnson says in the past Clinton has backed trade agreements with her votes in Congress while there’s no knowledge of what her opponent will do.
Besides Johnson, Hillary’s rural group includes Agribank’s Vice President for government affairs Vicki Hicks and Trevor Dean, a former Clinton aide who also worked in USDA during President Bill Clinton’s administration.
