Former Nebraska Congressman and Husker Football Coach Tom Osborne has come out against a proposal in the legislature to legalize medical marijuana.

Osborne says the Huskers began drug testing football players in 1985 and found few who habitually smoked marijuana could kick the habit.

But, the sponsor of the medical marijuana bill, Senator Anna Wishart of Lincoln, says the fear of marijuana has been overblown.

Wishart says the same cannot be said about prescription drugs. The Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the bill, but has not yet taken a vote.
