Cresbard, South Dakota native Kyle Holt has been named the new State Deputy Agriculture Secretary. Holt says he’s been busy getting acclimated to the job and has been working with Secretary Lucas Lentsch on getting ready for the state legislative session coming up in January.
Holt says the major national issue they’re watching is the EPA and Army Corps Waters of the U.S. rule. He says while they’re working in Congress to derail it, the most likely way to get rid of it is through the courts.
Holt says they’re also anxious to see completion of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade agreement which could bring important benefits for South Dakota’s farmers and ranchers.
Prior to joining the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, Holt worked as a staff person for Congresswoman Kristi Noem in the Rapid City office.
