Former Center for Rural Affairs Director and Nebraska State Regent Chuck Hassebrook has announced his candidacy for a seat in the legislature in District 16. Hassebrook of Lyons says he’s running to represent hard working families and small town and rural residents who need a voice in government.
He says one of his priorities is to help create jobs for Nebraskans.
Hassebrook says he wants to make sure the state’s farmers and ranchers get property tax relief.
State Senator Lydia Brasch of Bancroft represents District 16 but is barred by term limits from running again. The only other candidate that’s announced for that seat is Michael Dwyer, a school board member from Arlington.
