Former Augustana College pitcher Jordan Milbrath has been selected to the Midwest League Eastern Division All-Star Team. He will participate in the 50th Midwest League All-Star Classic at West Michigan’s Fifth Third Ballpark on June 17.

Milbrath, a 6-foot-6 right-hander from Springfield, Minn., has pitched in 11 games this season for the Lake County Captains, the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, posting a 2.92 ERA. In 52.1 innings of work, Milbrath has struck out 38 batters and is holding opponents to a .225 batting average. Milbrath is 1-6 on the season but has had some tough luck on the mound as his team has scored five total runs in game’s he has pitched, and has been shut out in three of those games.

Milbrath impressed from his very first pro start, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout while striking out five batters in his professional debut. He has struck out at least one batter in 10 of his 11 appearances and has struck out three or more in eight appearances. In his most recent start on May 28, Milbrath struck out a season-high seven batters in 5.1 innings of work in a loss to South Bend.

At Augustana, Milbrath posted a 7-2 record and a 4.57 ERA during the 2013 season where he struck out a team-high 60 batters in 67 innings of work. Milbrath led Augustana with 12 starts in 2013, a season in which Augustana set what was then a school record 38 wins, marking the fourth straight season of 30-plus wins.
