After three years of dry conditions, many people are wondering about what the pastures, grasslands, alfalfa fields, and other forages will look like at the start of spring. Fortunately, many areas have received snowfall during the winter months which may provide some much needed moisture. However, Sara Bauder, South Dakota State University Extension Forage Field Specialist says it may still be too early to know what condition the forages will appear after the snow melts, and spring arrives.
Bauder wonders about winter kill, but remains optimistic about the condition of the forages this spring.
