Yum Brands, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are removing artificial flavors and colors from their food and Taco Bell is discontinuing use of high fructose corn syrup by the end of the year.  Andy Resnick with the Corn Refiners Association says they’re monitoring this development and are concerned by it.

Resnick says his group has research that shows consumers don’t always do what they say they will do. He says often times they continue to purchase a product anyway.

He says high fructose corn syrup is a perfectly safe product and science bears that out.

Resnick says they’ll continue their educational efforts on how safe high fructose corn syrup is and hope that will convince other companies not to follow along with what Taco Bell has done.
