The Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha is looking forward to the upcoming holiday season. Spokesman Brian Barks this is the time of year when food drives start to pick up but it is also a time when food is needed the most. He says the number of people requesting help continues to grow.
Barks says more and more people are asking for help putting food on the table.
On Thanksgiving evening, the city of Omaha will kick off their Holiday Lights Festival. Barks is hoping people attending the lighting ceremony will help fill donation barrels set up in the downtown Omaha area. He says a $5 donation to the Food Bank provides 15 meals.
