The Yankton County Commissioners requested a proposal for the study and repair needing to be done to Fleegs Bridge. In a meeting Tuesday afternoon, Dan Johnson of Johnson Enginering told the Commissioners that the company did not have a proposal.
Johnson suggested the company may reestablish how often inspections on the bridge are done, which would allow the bridge to be reevaluated in a year. He says he feels confident that the bridge would qualify for funding in another year since it is already close to the funding threshold. The county, he says, needs to consider waiting.
The commissioners agreed that the bank stabilization project and bridge improvements need to all be completed at one time as a whole project and are considering Johnson Engineering’s suggestions. They are also working to coordinate with the state to obtain highway rubble to be used in the bridge project to cut back on expenses.
