Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer says a new EPA ozone proposal could damage the economy.
The EPA has proposed that the allowable concentration of ground-level ozone be lowered from 75 parts per billion to between 65-and-70.
Fischer says such a change would raise utility rates and force some firms out of business. .
.
A similar proposal consider three years ago was estimated to cost 90(B)Billion dollars a year to implement.
The proposal was released by the EPA late on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and didn’t get a lot of play in the news media. . .
Fischer says the proposal hasn’t been properly vetted and would force some businesses to close their doors.
