First West Nile Related Death Reported in Yankton County

The first death related to West Nile virus has been reported in Yankton County.
The state Department of Health reports it was a man, 80 to 89 years old.

State Epidemiologist Dr. Lon Kightlinger says this is turning into a very active infection season…..

Kightlinger says there are a number of factors leading to the increased activity….

Kightlinger says they had hoped to see a decrease in numbers this year…..

Kightlinger says the mosquitoes that carry the virus will be around until the first hard frost in late September or early October.
