Financial help is available for low-income Nebraskans who cannot afford to keep cool this summer.

The goal is to save lives when the hot temperatures become dangerous.

Karma Stockwell with the Department of Health and Human Services says about seven-and-a-half million dollars from the federal government is available this summer.

Stockwell says fans are being distributed to help keep houses cool.

The fans are available through a partnership between nearly 60 organizations and the Department.
