Filibusters Dominate Nebraska Legislative Session

Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature, Senator Greg Adams of York, understands many will remember this past legislative sessions for its filibusters as much as anything else.
Adams says there could have been more. He recalls cautioning a few inexperienced senators against waging filibusters on certain legislation they didn’t like. . .

Despite the delays, the legislature…according to Adams…accomplished a lot, such as tax cuts and prison reform.

As the session ended,17 state senators bid the Unicameral good-bye.
Adams, who is among those leaving the legislature, hopes those returning next year learn from this year. . .

Despite the difficulties, Adams says he doesn’t regret being one of the few Nebraskans to serve as Speaker of the Legislature.
