Procedural moves kept Nebraska lawmakers from getting to a proposed compromise on the teen-age politician measure.
Supporters of a constitutional amendment to lower the age to run for public office to 18 relented and agreed to limit the measure to politicians running for a seat in the Unicameral.
But, Senator Ernie Chambers of Omaha…who mounted a filibuster against the measure…refused to yield and allow a vote n the compromise. . .https://soundcloud.com/wnax-radio/chambers-219a

Senator Tyson Larson of O’Neill relented and agreed to limit his constitutional amendment to only politicians running for a legislative seat. But, Larson couldn’t even bring the compromise before the body, because Chambers threw up procedural motions, keeping it from coming to a vote. . .https://soundcloud.com/wnax-radio/larson-219a

Larson couldn’t bring the compromise before the full legislature…and then couldn’t muster enough votes to end the filibuster.
