Following the election of Donald Trump, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard announced he would not pursue Medicaid expansion with the 2017 legislature. Trump has said repealing the Affordable Care Act will be a top priority. Money for Medicaid expansion comes from the ACA.
Daugaard says the state and federal officials had an agreement in place to roll back some health care costs for native Americans…..

Daugaard says the agencies providing the health care don’t care where their money comes from…..

Daugaard says he is still holding out hope the Trump Administration will help cover some of those costs in the future………

The expansion would have added about fifty thousand people to Medicaid coverage. Daugaard says there are limited options for those people now.
