Fertilizer supplies are ample in North America this growing season, in part due to the regrowth of the domestic industry. The newest fertilizer plant to come on line was in southeast Iowa a few weeks ago. Chris Jahn, President of The Fertilizer Institute, says the opening of the $3 billion plant was welcome and there are more projects in the works.
Jahn says fertilizer supplies are strong with the resurgence in production in North America. He says the industry is shifting back to the U.S. from places like China.
He says this is helping to keep fertilizer prices competitive and in fact, this year they’re lower than the spring of 2016.
Jahn says a less burdensome regulatory climate in Washington D.C. will also help the industry keep fertilizer prices low.
