Iowa Congressman Randy Feenstra says he has heard from farmers within his district say they are deeply concerned about high input costs along with low yields with their crops due to drought conditions.  Feenstra says many farmers are telling him they will need to get additional operating loans, with higher interest rates to begin next year’s crop.  With regards to the next farm bill, Feenstra says farmers want to maintain the conservation provisions, and the crop insurance program.   The 4th District Iowa Congressman says if the republican party can be the majority party, then there will probably be some changes to the farm legislation.  Feenstra says the farm bill needs more emphasis to be focused on agricultural trade.
