Feenstra Appointed to House Ag Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry

Iowa’s U-S 4th District Republican Congressman Randy Feenstra has been appointed to serve on the House Agriculture’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry.  Feenstra says, “Iowa farmers and livestock producers deserve a strong voice on the Agriculture Committee, and solid representation in Congress.”  Feenstra continued by saying “as a product of rural Iowa, I am proud to be that voice for Iowa agriculture.  From passing a strong farm bill and opening foreign export markets to advocating biosecurity, I am confident that we will accomplish many legislative priorities critical to America’s heartland.”  The subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry has jurisdiction in part over livestock dairy and poultry markets, the Dairy Margin Coverage program, and Federal Milk Marketing Orders, along with th USDA implementation of the Packers and Stockyards Act.  In addition the subcommittee will focus on efforts to diversity and increase meat processing capacity, biosecurity, and animal health, and meat inspection policies.
