Feeding South Dakota is providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need throughout the state. CEO Matt Gassen says the event will be held on Saturday at their Sioux Falls, Pierre and Rapid City branches and families will receive a turkey with all the trimmings.
He says they’ll distribute thousands of holiday meals to individuals deemed food insecure through their food pantry outlets and other partnering agencies across the state.
Gassen says donations to Feeding South Dakota also pick up during the holidays and those contributions will be used for this Thanksgiving event, as well as others during the season.
According to Gassen, one in every nine individuals in South Dakota is food insecure and 45-percent of those are children and that is why the Thanksgiving meal program is so important.
