Federation Says Immigration Reform Needed Despite Campaign Rhetoric

The topic of Immigration has taken center stage this year during the Presidential campaign. Republican candidate Donald Trump visited Mexico this week talking about border security. Despite the rhetoric, some type of immigration reform legislation is needed to provide agriculture a stable and reliable workforce. Chris Galen with the National Milk Producers Federation says his group is already working on that.

He says Congress needs to pass an immigration package that includes a new visa program for immigrant workers already here.

Galen says they’ve been working on the immigration problem for sometime and resolution of that problem is badly needed.

Democrat Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton has criticized her opponent for advocating building a wall between Mexico and the U.S. to keep illegals out. Whichever of the two candidates wins in November will be faced with the task of working on immigration with the new Congress.
