A federal judge has declined to block a Missouri law that bans companies from labeling plant-based products or meat substitutes as meat. Nebraska Cattlemen Association Vice President of Legal and Government Affairs Jessica Herrmann says they’ve been monitoring that case and see it as a big win for producers and consumers.

She says they don’t oppose plant-based products but want to make sure they are properly labeled so they don’t confuse consumers.

Herrmann says the judge’s decision sets an important precedent that will protect consumers.

The plant-based product companies are appealing the judge’s decision and Herrmann says they’ll continue to monitor the case as it moves forward.
