The growing federal deficit is suddenly getting more attention from Members of Congress.
The deficit is now just under eight hundred billion dollars and is predicted to grow to more than a trillion dollars by late next year.

South Dakota Senator John Thune says spending on programs like Social Security and Medicare are rising very rapidly….

Thune says reforms now would be easier than major cuts later…..

Thune says it really isn’t a matter of who is in the White House or controls Congress…

Thune says much of the possible reform will depend on which party controls the House after the election.
