Fear and the UCC Veto

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem vetoed a bill revising the Uniform Commercial Code and the legislature earlier this week failed to override that.

State Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dave Owen says fear overcame logic….

Owen says the Governor’s opposition was a major factor in swinging the votes…

District 18 Representative Julie Auch of Lesterville was a vocal opponent of the bill.

Owen says it was a very long, complicated bill….

The overall code revisions are not due until July first of next year. Owen is on his post session tour of the state and was hosted by Yankton Thrive yesterday. (Thursday)
