The first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament played out by the numbers as all four top seeds posted quarterfinal wins on Wednesday night.
Top-seeded Briar Cliff defeated eight-seed Northwestern 94-83, while fourth-seed Midland defeated fifth-seed Hastings 79-73. On the bottom of the bracket second-seed Nebraska Wesleyan defeated seventh-seed Dordt 111-98 and third-seed Dakota Wesleyan defeated sixth-seed Concordia 90-82.
Saturday’s GPAC Semifinals will have top-seed Briar Cliff hosting #4 Midland and Dakota Wesleyan traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on Nebraska Wesleyan. Both contests are slated for 3 PM starts.
GPAC Championship Tuesday, sponsored by Rawlings, will be on Tuesday, March 1. The GPAC Postseason Tournament Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (top seed Briar Cliff) wins the postseason).
