A Dell Rapids, S.D. man has been identified as the person who died Tuesday night in a one-vehicle crash north of Sioux Falls.
Eric Petty, 35, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Suburban on South Dakota Highway 115 when he lost control. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled. Petty was ejected from the vehicle and later died of his injuries. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Renner Fire Department, Med Star and Sanford Airmed.
A 57-year-old man died early Saturday in a one-vehicle crash northeast of Mitchell.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. He was the driver of the vehicle and the only occupant.
A 2003 Dodge Caravan was traveling on 247th Street near the intersection of 414th Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the ditch and rolled several times into a crop field.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, Davison County Sheriff’s Office and Mitchell Ambulance.
