A major upgrade of the Yankton wastewater treatment plant will be a priority for city government this year.

City Manager Amy Leon says there are many moving parts in the potential forty four million dollar project….

Leon says the availability of state and federal funding is driving the timeline….

There are already concerns about the amount of rate increases to consumers that will be needed to pay for the project. Leon says they don’t have many choices there….

Leon says they plan to apply for a state water fund loan at the next cycle to get the process moving.
