Farmers Union wants the lame duck Congress to approve tax extender’s legislation that has been bogged down for some time. That legislation includes many components important for agriculture including credits for biodiesel and wind energy and the Section 179 expensing. Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says the part of the legislation his group is most concerned with is the production tax credit for wind energy.
Minnesota Farmers Union’s Government Relations Director Thom Petersen says his state’s producers are most concerned with the Section 179 depreciation.
Both Hansen and Petersen say it’s important these expiring tax credits get passed before the end of the year to help give farmers certainty going forward.
