Farmers Union President Surprised By Ag Response In Presidential Poll

One South Dakota Farm Group leader is a little surprised by the results of a recent poll of farmers and ranchers showing most of them favoring Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in the Presidential race. State Farmers Union President Doug Sombke says he saw the AgriPulse Farm and Ranch Poll showing 55 percent of respondents supporting Trump and 18 percent backing Clinton. He thinks most voters are frustrated with the status quo as it relates to politics.

Sombke is disappointed that agriculture has been virtually ignored by all the Presidential candidates.

He says the top Ag issue that needs to be dealt with is the depressed farm economy.

A similar AgriPulse poll out earlier showed respondents dissatisfied with the direction of the country, the farm economy and the regulatory environment.
