250 Farmers Union members from across the country are in the nation’s Capital this week telling Congress to vote against the Trans Pacific Partnership. South Dakota Farmers Union President Doug Sombke is heading up the state’s 25 member delegation. He says the current TPP under discussion doesn’t address the current trade deficit that’s hurting U.S. agriculture.
Sombke says TPP is not only bad for the United States, it’s not good for farmers around the world.
Sombke says other issues Farmers Union is lobbying is keeping Country of Origin Labeling intact, increasing the volume requirements for the Renewable Fuel Standard and addressing the rail shipping problem for ag commodities.
