The just released report card from the American Society of Civil Engineers gave Minnesota a C grade for its infrastructure and a D for road development. Infrastructure upkeep and development has been a concern of most Minnesota Ag groups. Minnesota Farmer Union’s Director of Government Relations Thom Petersen says the ASCE report isn’t surprising and finding enough money to fund infrastructure is a major challenge.

He says they’re pushing candidates running for office to explain what their plan is for upgrading and upkeeping the state’s infrastructure.

Petersen says it’s critical to come up with the proper funding source for roads and bridges and that will be a topic at their State Convention this fall.

Petersen says Minnesota needs a good transportation system in order for farmers and ranchers to get their goods to both domestic and export markets..
